Condition & Sourcing Standards

Condition, provenance and presentation are part of the product.

Special Box Drops sources merchandise with a collector's perspective. We consider the item itself as well as the packaging, accessories, provenance, scarcity and presentation that can affect desirability and value.

Condition

Condition is represented through the product description and photographs. Depending on the category, we may identify relevant characteristics such as new or pre-owned status, wear, manufacturing variation, box condition, packaging damage, missing accessories or other material observations.

Packaging

Original boxes and special presentation packaging can be important components of collectible merchandise. Packaging condition may differ from the condition of the item itself. Buyers should review the listing photographs and description for the exact packaging included.

Sourcing

Inventory may be sourced through retail releases, boutiques, established marketplaces, collectors, businesses, industry relationships and other legitimate secondary-market channels. Source information is disclosed when it is relevant to the item and appropriate to share.

Numbered & Special Editions

When an item has numbered packaging or a limited presentation edition, Special Box Drops will identify the number or edition information when known. A special package quantity should not be interpreted as the total production quantity of the underlying product unless the listing expressly says so.

Photography

Product photographs are intended to help buyers evaluate the merchandise. Unless a listing clearly states that an image is representative, buyers should use the listing photographs and written details together when evaluating condition and included components.
